Reflective Narrative
Span-301- Composition/Oral practice (completed in Fall 2013)
This course meets MLO 1: Language proficiency and MLO 2: Language and Linguistic Knowledge. This course contributes to my fulfillment of MLO 1 because we practiced our writing skills in essays, writing assignments, and tests. We also did a lot of group activities that helped us practice our speaking and listening abilities. We did four essays in the semester, the first one was a composition about a wedding, the second one was a description about a market or store, the third one was an essay about euthanasia, and the last one was an essay about immigration in any country. A debate was also performed at the end of the class, we were put into groups of five classmates and had to research a certain topic and present in front of the class. Our topic was about Junipero Serra, the founder of California. Our group had to discuss the good and bad things about Junipero with another group. The knowledge that I gained from this course that is significant to my major is the following: writing skills, linguistics knowledge, reading skills, and communication skills. But the main thing would be writing skills since we did a lot of writing assignments on this class. I believe that I still need to work on my writing skills, even though I learned a lot in this class, I feel that I still need to work on this area. To further explore this learning experience I need to read more.
