Span 316 Span culture and Civilizations
This course meets MLO 1: Language Proficiency and MLO 4: Literary and cultural knowledge. Contributes to the fulfillment of MLO 1 by helping me use language skills in class through speaking, listening, reading and writing. Several chapters per week were assigned to satisfy the reading portion of this MLO. We performed class presentations, and actively interacted in class to answer the professor’s questions about the lecture to meet the speaking and listening section of this MLO. We studied in depth a book and analysed videos on Ilearn to facilitate our understanding on Spain politics to gratify the expectations of MLO 4. We read the book called “civilización y cultura de España” by Vicente Cantarino and were required to participate in active class discussions about the reading. We listened to the teacher lectures to help us understand better the history and politics of Spain. We took two test during the course, a midterm and a final test; we also did a presentation about a certain topic about Spain. I presented about the history of two cities, Barcelona and Madrid as well as their soccer teams Barcelona and Real Madrid. We were taught how to improvise several essays about gastronomy to practice our critical thinking and writing skills. All this assignments demonstrate my development in these MLO’s (1 &4). I gained a lot of knowledge about Spain political system and history, a lot of events in the past reflect our present therefore all this knowledge will be really useful for my major. I would wish to develop further in the political field, I perfectly understood the history but I still struggle to understand politics.
